Words can't describe how thankful my heart is. You were such an amazing presence for me [during the birth of our third baby]. You have such a gift and I wish every woman could experience you with them. There are a few specific things I remember during my labour and one of them is hearing your voice encouraging me every step of the way. You knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it and you helped my mum stay strong for me. You also knew what my husband needed as he watched from 8000 miles away on Skype. At 35 weeks in my fourth pregnancy I moved [from another country]. My midwife encouraged me to get in touch with Laura. By far the best decision I made for this birth. Laura helped me with the transition and to prepare for my birth in ways I could not have foreseen. She was utterly ‘there’ for me from the most practical details to the most spiritual and emotional elements of my birth. Her calm reassuring presence, understanding and friendship were exactly what I needed. She taught me something about friendship, sisterhood and companionship during the time surrounding birth that I hadn’t anticipated. Our baby needed transferring to the NICU shortly after birth and did not return home until three weeks later, Laura made this difficult time much easier to bear in myriad ways.

I feel so fortunate to have had Laura as my doula during my pregnancy and labor of my first child. [During] labor, Laura arrived to our home in the middle of the night and helped me handle the contractions, suggesting different positions and techniques. [At hospital] there was no time for any needless intervention! Laura gave us security to feel like we were doing the right things and support to manage such an intense experience. She was an advocate for me so that I didn't need to advocate for myself, and ensured we could follow our birth plan. My husband and I felt that we were in safe, expert hands. Laura has a gentle, non judgmental manner and attends to not only the physical aspects of birth but also the emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects. I highly recommend Laura as a doula!

We took an individual childbirth class with Laura when we were 36 weeks into our first pregnancy and preparing for a natural home birth. Laura welcomed us into her home for a lovely, fun, and informative evening. Her creative use of visual aids and projects helped us to understand the childbirth process and how we can best work with it. Laura was a real light in the darkness for me when I was planning the birth of my third child, a home birth after Caesarean. She supported me unequivocally and trusted in my instincts to birth my baby safely and make the decisions that were right for us. I trusted her absolutely, and after two difficult births where I felt let down by my "support", it was not easy for me to trust anyone. Knowing I had Laura behind me and that she would come to me whenever I needed her helped my husband and I to enjoy the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I had such a smooth easy birth compared to my previous experiences and I owe a huge debt to Laura for her part in making that happen. I met Laura before I became pregnant and knew instantly I wanted her to be part of my future birth. She has a calm and caring personality that really attracted me. I knew I wanted to have a home birth [for our first baby]. Laura met with my husband and I before the birth and really got to know us and our ideal birth plan. She knew all the questions to ask to really get an idea of what we wanted. As a chiropractor, I had a unique perspective and Laura was very supportive of all my requests. Laura came over in the middle of the night and really connected with me when she walked in the door. As my long labor progressed, I was becoming exhausted. I remember Laura sitting in front of me, helping me breathe and using encouraging words to keep me on track with my ultimate goal. My husband caught a stomach bug the day of the birth and was not around to support me. Luckily, I had Laura by my side! I have nothing but praise and will be recommending Laura to my friends and patients. Having a doula is such a wonderful experience and Laura is by far the best.
